Yup. Time for my annual Academy Award write-up! This year I'm in pretty bad shape as I haven't had the loose change to get to the movies much (or the time!) but I'm going to catch up with at least three or four of the films I haven't caught yet. The noms had a few big surprises and a few disappointments as well. 

 The short breakdown for my tl:dr friends--

• Penelope Cruz with the supporting nom.
• Richard Jenkins with the best actor nom.
• In Bruges receives best writing nom
• Robert Downey Jr.'s sexhair

• No other nods to Vicky Christina Barcelona
• The Dark Knight gets snubbed for everything but technical award noms
• Acurious lack of Revolutionary Road noms

Today two sparrows flew into the window of my kiosk and killed themselves. I watched both of them twitch their dying breaths out on the puddle laden blacktop beneath the window. Both sad and beautiful. Their feathers are softer than baby skin.

I made an introduction post for my journal. It has various bits of information about myself. Most of my friends know the majority of it, but I'd like to think there might be some new info in there for everyone. It's dated out of order, just below my friends only post. I would link it here but I just fought with LJ over LJ cuts for about twenty minutes- I refuse to deal with its fancy features anymore right now.

Watching LOST tonight! I was too tired to stay up for it last night, especially after a particularly trying night of algebra.

 BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

1. THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON – There’s so much buzz around this movie. I have to say, it better be a BIG surprise because the short story is a very simple, uncomplicated tale. I really can’t see how it could be THIS GOOD but we’ll see.
2. FROST/NIXON – Going to see this on Friday!
3. THE READER – I’ve never even heard of it. And I pay attention to this stuff!
4. REVOLUTIONARY ROAD – I hear Kate Winslet looks hot in this.
5. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE – SO much buzz. And yet, it’s still not out here.

Bottom line- I haven’t seen any of them yet. I hate you, awards shows that nominate things before people can see them! And… no Milk? Wtf happened, there?
